WHAT IS GFC?
Growth Factor Concentrate (GFC) is a non-surgical hair treatment prepared from a small sample of your own blood. During processing, platelets are activated to release growth factors—naturally occurring proteins involved in cell signalling and tissue repair. The growth-factor-rich liquid is then collected and injected into areas of scalp thinning.

The aim is to support existing hair follicles and the environment around them, potentially improving hair growth and density. Early research is encouraging, particularly for male and female pattern hair loss, although results vary and long-term evidence is still developing.

Unlike PRP, which concentrates platelets within plasma, GFC focuses on collecting the growth factors released during preparation.
How GFC Treatment Works
The GFC procedure at Hair Again Clinic follows a precise protocol across 4 stages:
Stage 1 — Blood Draw. A small volume of blood (8-16 ml) is drawn from your arm, similar to a standard blood test. This is completely your own blood — no donor material.
Stage 2 — Processing. The blood is processed in our in-clinic centrifuge using a specialized GFC kit. This separates growth factors from other blood components and concentrates them. The result is a clear, yellowish-gold liquid — your GFC concentrate
Stage 3 — Scalp Preparation. Your scalp is cleaned and images are taken if they hadnt been captured during the consultation process.
Stage 4 — Micro-Injection (30-45 minutes) Using ultra-fine needles, the GFC concentrate is injected across the affected scalp areas in a grid pattern. The injection depth and spacing are calculated based on your scalp anatomy and hair loss pattern.
Total session time: Approximately 45 - 60 minutes.
Recommended protocol: 3-4 sessions, spaced 4 weeks apart. Maintenance sessions every 4-6 months depending on response.
Who Can Benefit From GFC?

GFC may be considered for men and women experiencing thinning hair where active hair follicles are still present.​

Male Pattern Hair Loss, Hairline recession, thinning through the top of the scalp or reduced density around the crown.​

Female Pattern Hair Loss, A widening part, reduced density or gradual thinning across the top of the scalp.​

Early to Moderate Hair Loss. GFC is generally best considered before hair loss becomes advanced, while follicles are still present and capable of producing hair.​

Hair Miniaturisation. Hair follicles can gradually begin producing finer, weaker hairs. Supporting these follicles earlier may give them a better opportunity to respond.​

Diffuse Thinning. Some clients experience a more general reduction in density rather than a defined pattern of hair loss.

Post-Hair Transplant Support. GFC may also be considered as part of a programme to support the scalp and existing follicles following hair transplantation.
Your GFC Treatment
Your appointment begins with a review of your treatment area and preparation of the GFC system.
​
A small amount of blood is collected and left to stand for approximately 15–30 minutes. It is then centrifuged to separate and concentrate the growth factors.
The prepared Growth Factor Concentrate is carefully injected into the areas of the scalp being treated.

Your GFC appointment generally takes around 45–60 minutes, and most clients can return to their normal activities afterwards.
