Common Questions
Get clear, honest answers to common questions about hair restoration procedures, recovery, costs, and what to expect from treatment.
Using your own Platelets ensures that only a natural liquid is penetrating your scalp, encouraging the creation of new hair cells and reducing hair loss. There is no need for recovery time after a session; you can return to your daily routine right away.
Platelet Rich hair restoration treatment can help patients who are experiencing hair thinning or loss. If you suffer from alopecia or other immune system issues, the results can be significant over time .We do recommend that everyone considering these treatments do as much research on the topic to decide if this is an option to consider as these treatments are not always successful. We do also suggest that anyone wanting to have these treatments do make some lifestyle changes if needed to ensure you get the best possible outcome.
Our Registered Nurses will confirm your details and ask a few health questions, thereafter she will draw blood in a small tube from the arm. The blood tube is then put into a centrifuge, which spins the tube for 10 minutes to separate the plasma and platelets from the red blood cells. Once this has been retrieved, our nurse will then inject the Platelets directly into the scalp.
PRF is the next generation of PRP. PRF contains greater concentrations of growth factors than PRP. PRF serum also contains stem cells, white blood cells (leucocytes) and fibrin – which PRP does not have. The stem cells in the PRF are “undifferentiated” cells that literally morph into the cells needed to repair the hair follicles, so they can begin to produce thick, healthy hair shafts again.
And, the fibrin in PRF acts as a scaffolding to keep the growth factors and stem cells in the area of the scalp being treated, so they do not diffuse away from where they needed. This allows for release of more growth factors, for a longer period of time.
GFC hair treatment is a highly safe and effective treatment that involves generating growth factors from your blood for treating hair loss. The growth factors present in GFC treatments can help improve scalp health by reducing inflammation, balancing sebum production, and promoting a healthier environment for hair growth.
Hair transplant surgery doesn’t produce immediate results, as the transplanted hair follicles need time to settle into the scalp and begin growing new hair. To support this process, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy can be highly beneficial—not only for your existing hair follicles but also for the newly transplanted ones.
The timing of PRP therapy after your hair transplant is also key to achieving optimal outcomes. We recommend starting PRP treatments about 90 days post-surgery. This allows enough time for the transplanted follicles to properly heal and establish themselves within the scalp.
PRP therapy is a powerful hair restoration method on its own. It nourishes hair follicles and accelerates recovery by delivering concentrated growth factors directly to the scalp. These growth factors activate stem cells within the follicles, encouraging new hair growth.
The platelets used in PRP and GFC are rich in components that aid in tissue repair and wound healing. They stimulate cell regeneration, collagen production, and improve blood flow around the follicles—ensuring they receive ample nutrients and oxygen.
When used in combination with hair transplant surgery, these treatments can significantly enhance follicle survival, speed up healing, and promote fuller, healthier hair regrowth.
